Buffalo, New York – Saint Adalbert Basilica’s 125th year will begin with a special Polka Mass on Saturday September 11, 2010 at 4pm celebrated by Rev. Msgr, Matthew S. Kopacz, P.A.

Don’t let the word ‘Polka’ fool you about the Mass. The music will be performed by Buffalo’s three time Grammy nominees Jerry Darlak and the Touch. Traditional Polish religious hymns and other sacred selections are performed in a Polish folk style to make the event a unique celebration of the Polish heritage of Saint Adalbert Basilica. The Mass will also include a musical tribute to 09/11.

Jerry Darlak is and has been an Icon in the Polka Business for over 50 years... Jerry has battled this cancer like the trooper he is, only wishing to return to the stage "one more time" with a smile and a good polka , oberek or waltz for people to "da tance" Jerry's history is well documented, and his awards are much deserved... his Love for MUSIC, the boots, hair brush, hair spray, a few drinky winkies with his friends, telling stories about the old days, the party room etc., his nerves before the gig..Pranks, jokes, Laughs and more Laughs are the Jerry Darlak we have all came to love and admire.....
The last road trip is here, Jerry Darlak has Terminal Cancer........
God please be good to our friend, that he may join all the other fallen brothers of the note in peace....
Please keep JD in your prayers, We will be here with our friend, by his side along with his beloved Joyce.. and the Darlak Family...
Jerry's throat cancer was clear last week.... after all that Chemo and Radiation..only to find cancer was then found behind his eye entering the brain leaving him terminally Ill...while time may be short, love and comfort care through hospice will make this trip ....................
We Love You Jerry YOU will NEVER be Forgotten.....
